Aquila’s pet mom asked me to speak with the 2-year-old cat to see if I could find out why she was peeing outside of her litter box and biting and hissing at the pet mom and her son.
Aquila had previously lived with the pet mom’s son in an overcrowded, confined apartment where there was a lot of noise, a lot of people and a lot of other animals. It was very chaotic and when Aquila started showing how uncomfortable she was, the son asked the pet mom to take her into her home where there was only the pet mom and dad.
When we met, Aquila told me she is beautiful, but it only shows on the outside. She said I am tied up in a knot and in fear a lot of the time. My pet dad takes care of me; he is calm and gentle with me. He picks me up and holds me in his arms and I love him, but my pet mom scares me.
By the way, the tone of the pet mom’s voice reminds her of the fear and trauma she felt in the old house. It brings back memories when the pet mom speaks to her or picks her up to love on her. Aquila said she is protecting herself when she snarls and snaps at her pet mom and pees in fear like at the old house.
Aquila had a cat friend in the old house and they used to protect each other. They could talk about what was bothering them. She doesn’t have anyone to talk to now, except the pet dad makes her feel safe.
Given all the information Aquila provided, I felt it best to do a tapping session first for the pet mom to learn what other energy she might be adding to the situation. We met for our appointment and before we could start, pet mom told me how much Aquila had changed since the reading. She is a completely different cat, pet mom can brush her, hold her, wrap her in a blanket and Aquila would stay with her voluntarily. And she is using her litter box. No more peeing in the house.
The pet mom told me when she realized Aquila was associating her with the old house, pet mom took responsibility and changed the way she interacted with Aquila. And she now speaks to Aquila silently rather than verbally.
Now that Aquila had an opportunity to speak about what was bothering her, she had permission to change her behavior. And the pet mom’s added change in the relationship proved giving a voice to her pet cat was all that was needed.
